History

Founded in 1961, Roy Metal Finishing Company (RMF) is an industry-leader in highly-engineered corrosion-resistant metal finishing solutions that are both functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. RMF offers a wide range of technologies and services that
meet the most stringent performance requirements. RMF has been a family-owned company for most of its history, joining the Aalberts family of companies in September
2018.

Established in Greenville, South Carolina, in 1961, RMF was founded by Donald Roy who previously worked in the textile industry in the northeastern region of the US. Mr. Roy had the foresight to identify the need for a high-quality metal finishing company in the southeastern region of the US that was dedicated to providing superior quality and excellent customer service.

Looking back, it appears as if Mr. Roy’s decision to move to the southeast was a wise one. Today RMF is proud to serve over 350 customers in the transportation, agricultural, construction, appliance and industrial markets.

Donald Roy began Roy Metal Finishing (RMF) in 1961 after working for years in the textile industry. He had the foresight to start a plating company dedicated to superior quality and customer service with the administrative support from his wife, Cecile Roy.

Clifford Roy became VP of RMF in 1975. He started with the company in sales in 1969 after graduating from University of Kentucky with a degree in metallurgical engineering.

In 2018, Roy Metal Finishing was acquired by Aalberts Industries N.V., a public Dutch technology company, founded in 1975 and based in 50 countries worldwide.
